What Happens if I put in the wrong PIN on the PIN Pad?
You have 4 attempts to enter one of your PINs on your Smart Lock’s PIN Pad. Starting on the 5th attempt of entering the wrong PIN on the PIN Pad, the Smart Lock will initiate a number of safety measures to ensure that your home is safe.

Does the Smart Lock PIN Pad disarm the alarm for my system?
The Smart Lock’s PIN Pad functions similarly to the Keypad. For example, entering the Master PIN or any Custom PIN will disarm the system. If you are subscribed to a monitoring plan that includes 24/7 emergency dispatch and enter your Duress PIN, we’ll request dispatch from the police immediately (and disarm your system to fool intruders).
Note that the Smart Lock’s PIN Pad will not arm your system, it will only disarm it. This avoids the hassle of having to disarm your system each time you enter or exit the house.
Pressing the Lock button on your Smart Lock’s PIN Pad will lock your Smart Lock, but it will not arm your system.

If the Smart Lock Loses Power, Will I be Locked Out?
Your Smart Lock will give you low-battery warnings for multiple weeks before it loses power. However, if your Smart Lock dies entirely before you replace your batteries, your key will still work. This is the same key you used for the deadbolt before installing the Smart Lock.
If you need to change the batteries in your Smart Lock, or Smart Lock Series 2, visit our Help Center for further information.

Why is my Smart Lock Flashing White?
If you see a flashing white light on your Smart Lock or Smart Lock Series 2, that indicates that the device’s battery is low. To clear this light, you will need to replace the device’s batteries.
For more information on replacing the Smart Lock’s batteries, see the How to Replace Smart Lock Batteries article in our Help Center. For details on replacing the batteries in the Smart Lock Series 2, see the How to Replace Smart Lock Series 2 Batteries article.

Do I need an Entry Sensor for my Smart Lock to work?
All features of the Smart Lock will still work without an Entry Sensor.
However, the Auto-Lock feature on your Smart Lock will be “smarter” when the device is paired with an Entry Sensor. The Entry Sensor tells your Smart Lock when your door is open, preventing the Smart Lock from trying to lock your door when it’s open.
For example, if you set your Smart Lock to Auto-Lock after 30 seconds but purposefully left your door open while bringing in groceries, your Smart Lock will not try to lock itself.
We recommend putting an Entry Sensor on the same door as your Smart Lock to defend your door, and we recommend pairing the two devices to prevent Auto-Lock from engaging while the door is open.

Which Version of the Smart Lock do I Have?
If you purchased a Smart Lock from SimpliSafe® or an authorized retailer after October 2024, it is likely that you have the Smart Lock Series 2.
You can also tell which version of the Smart Lock you have by looking at the shape of the device. The Smart Lock is a long oval with a height of 7.5 inches, while the Smart Lock Series 2 is a rectangle with rounded corners, and is 7.6 inches high.
See the image below for a side-by-side comparison between the two Smart Locks.
