    Entry Sensor Settings & Customisations

    Your Entry Sensor can be customised to fit the needs of your home or business, whether your system is Armed or Off. Below are the steps on how to access your Entry Sensor’s settings, and what you’ll be able to find in that portion of the SimpliSafe® Mobile App.

    To adjust your Entry Sensor’s Settings:

    1. Open the SimpliSafe® Mobile App on your phone or tablet

    2. Choose My System from the bottom navigation bar

    3. Select Device Settings

    4. Tap on the Entry Sensor you wish to manage

    Device Behavior by Arming State

    You can customise your Entry Sensor to behave differently whether your system is set to Off, Home, or Away. You can also enable Secret Alerts for your sensor, to be discreetly notified of entry to a door or window.

    Instant Trigger

    When you turn on Instant Trigger, your sensor will sound your alarm right away when it is triggered. This feature can be helpful for areas of your home that you don’t use often - like a cellar door, basement, or skylight. That way, when your system is armed in Home or Away mode, you'll know immediately if your Entry Sensor was triggered.

    Sensor Name Announcement

    ​Sensor Name Announcement is a feature that allows the Base Station to say the sensor’s name whenever it is opened or closed. Please note that if the sensor is using a custom name, the Base Station will only announce “Entry Sensor” and will not speak out the custom name. This feature only works with prepopulated names within the SimpliSafe® Mobile App. If you need to change your Entry Sensor’s name, you can click the arrow icon next to the name on the Entry Sensor’s settings screen to choose a new name.

    My Entry Sensor Will Not Pair to My System

    If you just installed your Entry Sensor, but cannot find it under Device Settings - it’s possible that it did not pair correctly with your system. There are a few steps you can take to resolve this issue. You should take each step in the order they are presented, and attempt to pair the Entry Sensor after each step to confirm which one resolved it.

    As a first step, you’ll want to briefly remove the battery from the sensor then test if the LED blinks on it.

    If you need help removing the battery, you can follow the steps below.

    1. Slide the Entry Sensor off its bracket, by applying even pressure to it and moving the sensor towards the pairing button

    2. Remove the battery from the Entry Sensor using one of the methods below, depending on your sensor

      1. You will either pop the battery out of the sensor by pressing down on the battery tab to release it

      2. Or you will need to use a small tool, such as a eyeglasses screwdriver to press down on the tab holding the cover in place, then remove the battery

    3. Wait at least 15 seconds

    4. Reinsert the battery, and replace the battery tab with the exclamation point facing up - if applicable

    5. Slide the Entry Sensor back onto its bracket

    6. Press the pairing button on the top of the sensor and confirm if the LED blinks

      1. If there is NO VISIBLE LED, proceed to step 2 to replace the battery

    7. Try pairing the sensor again

    The Entry Sensor takes one Duracell CR-2032 Lithium 3V battery and has a life expectancy of up to 5 years depending on placement and usage.

    To change your Entry Sensor's battery, slide the sensor towards the pairing button to remove it from the bracket. Then replace the lithium battery and slide the sensor back onto its bracket.

    It’s possible that there may be wireless interference at the location you are trying to install the sensor at. To rule this out, you’ll want to move the Entry Sensor closer to the Base Station temporarily, and try setting it up at that location. If the Entry Sensor pairs successfully next to the Base Station, you can try moving it back to the original location and use the signal strength within the SimpliSafe® Mobile App to determine if there is an issue. Note that metal doors or dense building material can also be a source of interference, and may be preventing the signal from getting back to the Base Station clearly.

    As a final step, you’ll want to perform a power cycle on the Base Station, then try to add the sensor back again. To do this, you will need your own Phillips head screwdriver to complete this task.

    1. Unplug the power cord from the bottom of the Base Station and use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screw from where the cord was inserted

    2. Remove the bottom cover by twisting it off and remove a single battery from within the Base Station

    3. Wait 60 seconds, or until you hear the Base Station say “Power Outage”

    4. Reassemble the Base Station by reinserting the battery, twisting the cover back on, reinserting the screw and power cord

    5. After the reset, you’ll hear the Base Station say “Welcome to SimpliSafe®”

    6. Once you hear the Base Station announce that, attempt to add the Entry Sensor to your system again

    Motion Sensor Gen 1 Installation Guide

    Overview

    Motion Sensors are always on the lookout for uninvited guests. They can detect motion within 30 feet, with a 90-degree field of view. They’re also designed to distinguish between people and pets. If you have a pet in your home, check out the Pet Owners video on this page for additional installation instructions.

    Before Getting Started

    You’ll need to install your Base Station prior to getting started. If you have pets, please watch both of the installation videos below.

    What’s in the Box

    • Motion Sensor Gen 1 with mounting plate

    • Screws (optional for permanent installation)

    If you want to mount your Motion Sensor Gen 1 on a wall using its adhesive backing, make sure the surface has been wiped clean and has had time to dry.

    If you plan on wall mounting your Motion Sensor Gen 1 with the included screws, you’ll want to also have a Phillips head screwdriver available.

    Glassbreak Sensor Installation Guide

    Overview

    Glassbreak Sensors are programmed to listen for the specific frequency of windows breaking. They're even sensitive enough to know the difference between a plate breaking, and a window breaking.

    Inside the Glassbreak Sensor is a small microphone that is calibrated to react to the sound of the glass being struck and then breaking. Pane glass has a certain sound frequency when smashed, which the sensor hears and then trips the alarm. The sensor is listening for the initial “thump” of the glass being struck, which in effect “wakes” it up, and the sound of the glass breaking micro-seconds later trips the alarm.

    Before Getting Started

    Before setting up your Glassbreak Sensor, you will need to install your Base Station.

    We recommend placing the Glassbreak Sensor within 20 feet of the window you want to protect, facing the glass. If you have heavy curtains within your home, you may want to adjust the Glassbreak Sensor to be within 5-10 feet of that window.

    The Glassbreak Sensor can be placed on a flat surface, or wall mounted using the adhesive strip on the back of the device. If you are wall mounting the Glassbreak Sensor, ensure that the wall is clean and dry before adhering it to the surface.

    The Glassbreak Sensor is only compatible with single and double-paned glass. It is not intended to be used with any laminated or anti-smash glass.

    4. Choose a name for the device by selecting one of our pre-populated names, or select Custom Name at the bottom of the screen to input your own

    How to Mount the Glassbreak Sensor

    1. Bring the Glassbreak Sensor to its desired location

      1. Find a place for your Glassbreak Sensor that is within 20 feet of the window(s) you want to protect

        1. If your windows(s) have heavy curtains, place the sensor within 10 feet 

      2. The Glassbreak Sensor must face toward the window(s) you want to protect

    How to Mount the Glassbreak Sensor With its Adhesives

    1. Clean the desired surface using rubbing alcohol 

    2. Wait for the surface to dry completely 

    3. Peel the plastic backing off of the adhesive strip on the back of the Glassbreak Sensor

    4. Press and hold the Glassbreak Sensor in place for 30 seconds

    1. Remove the adhesive off the mounting plate

    2. Slide the Glassbreak Sensor up and off its mounting plate

    3. Use a screwdriver to secure the mounting plate to the wall

    Entry Sensor Installation Guide

    Overview

    Entry Sensors defend your doors and windows. The Base Station will sound a quick chime when a door or window opens while your system is disarmed. Depending on your settings, this can also be set to trigger an alarm.

    Entry Sensors are made up of two parts: a sensor (the smaller of the two components) and a magnet. When these are lined up within two inches of each other, the system knows the door or window is closed. When they move more than two inches apart, the system sees it has been opened.

    Before Getting Started

    Before setting up your Entry Sensor, you will need to install your Base Station.

    Prior to placing the sensor, make sure the surface has been wiped clean and has had time to dry.

    Additional installation considerations:

    • If you are mounting the Entry Sensor to a metal door, we recommend placing a thin piece of cardboard between the sensor and the surface.

    • If you are mounting the Entry Sensor to a magnetic door or frame, we recommend that you place the smaller magnet piece of the sensor on the magnetic surface.

    This will ensure that your Entry Sensor has the best signal possible to communicate with your Base Station.

    1. Open the SimpliSafe® Mobile App on your smartphone or tablet

    2. Navigate to the three-bar menu on the upper left corner and select Add Device or Camera

    3. Select Entry Sensor from the list of available products

    How to Pair the Entry Sensor to Your System

    1. Pull the battery tab out of the Entry Sensor and then press and release the setup button on the top of the device 

    2. After releasing the setup button, the Base Station should say “Entry Sensor” and the LED light on the Entry Sensor should flash blue 3 times

    3. The SimpliSafe® Mobile App will then prompt you to name your Entry Sensor. You can either select from our pre-populated list of names or select Custom Name at the bottom of the screen and enter your own

    How to Mount the Entry Sensor

    1. Find a door or window to place your Entry Sensor on, making sure that

      1. One piece of the sensor can be placed on the door or window itself and the other piece fits on the door/window frame

      2. When the door or window is closed, both pieces of the Entry Sensor are no more than 1.5 inches apart

    How to Mount the Entry Sensor Using the Included Adhesive Strips

    1. Clean the desired surface with an alcohol-based cleaning solution and let it dry completely 

    2. Peel the plastic backing off the adhesive strips on the back of the Entry Sensor

    3. Press and hold the sensor in place for 30 seconds

    How to Mount the Entry Sensor Using the Included Screws

    1. Remove the adhesives completely off the Entry Sensor’s mounting plate

    2. Slide the Entry Sensor off its mounting plate

    3. Using a phillips head screwdriver and the included screws, secure the mounting plate to the surface

    4. Slide the Entry Sensor back on the mounting plate

    Temperature Sensor Installation Guide

    Overview

    The Temperature Sensor triggers an alarm when your home’s temperature goes above or below the temperature range that you set.

    We won’t request dispatch of emergency services for temperature alarms, but with professional monitoring you’ll receive an automated call letting you know about the alarm.

    Before Getting Started

    Before setting up your Temperature Sensor, you will need to install your Base Station.

    You should also make sure that the surface you want to put the sensor on has been wiped clean and has had time to dry.

    The Temperature Sensor should be placed in an area where you want to closely monitor its temperature - like near pipes that may run the risk of freezing or in climate-controlled rooms. We don’t recommend putting the Temperature Sensor near a boiler or furnace, as their residual heat could trigger false alarms.

    The Water Sensor should be placed on the floor where there is a risk of leaks, flooding, or broken plumbing. We recommend putting the Water Sensor in a laundry room, basement, or underneath a sink.

    2. For the simplest installation, place your Water Sensor on the floor

      1. The device should be placed on a flat surface; other items touching the contacts on the bottom of the device can cause false alarms
