  • Too Many Motion Alerts From the SimpliCam® Wired Indoor Security Camera

The SimpliCam® Wired Indoor Security Camera comes equipped with a passive infrared (PIR) sensor that allows it to sense contrasting temperature changes in its field of view to determine if it should send you a motion alert.

The frequency of motion alerts can be adjusted through your SimpliSafe® Mobile App or the online Web App. You can adjust the motion sensitivity to be High, Medium, or Low. Medium is the default setting—changing this will affect how much motion and what sized objects will set off the camera’s motion detection.

    • High sensitivity will give you more frequent motion notifications

    • Medium sensitivity is the default setting. You will receive a normal amount of notifications with this setting

    • Low sensitivity will give you fewer motion notifications

  • My Video Doorbell Pro Stopped Connecting to Wi-Fi After Setup

The Video Doorbell Pro will have a blinking red light when it is not connected to your Wi-Fi network. If you had successfully setup your Video Doorbell Pro before and it is now experiencing issues connecting to your network, we recommend checking your Wi-Fi network to ensure it’s transmitting a 2.4GHz band, and that your SSID and password are not longer than 31 characters each.

If your Video Doorbell Pro is no longer connected to your Wi-Fi and its status light is showing a different colour, refer to the table in the Video Doorbell Pro LED Usage Status Light Colours article.

If the Video Doorbell is not connected to Wi-Fi and its status light isn’t blinking at all, check that the mounting plate has good contact with the gold pins on the doorbell. Make sure that the mounting plate isn’t too tight that it is bending, preventing good contact with the gold pins. If something looks off or you’re not sure the Video Doorbell Pro is installed correctly, check out our installation guide for help.

If you are still having trouble reconnecting your Video Doorbell Pro to Wi-Fi after taking the above steps, we recommend running a Connection Check test in the SimpliSafe® mobile app to see if there are any issues between your network and Video Doorbell Pro.

How to Run a Connection Check:

    1. Open the SimpliSafe® mobile app

    2. Tap on the Cameras tab on the bottom of the screen

    3. Select the gear icon in the upper right corner

    4. Choose your Video Doorbell

    5. Select Connection Check and follow the on-screen instructions to test your signal strength and upload speeds

Using your results, you can improve your Video Doorbell Pro’s connection with the tips below.

    Camera Requirements:

    • Upload speed needs to be above 2Mbps for 720p video

      • If your upload speed is below 2Mbps, you may need to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to upgrade your internet package.
